Marisa and Josh
of J and M Sourdough Bagels
Josh (J) has been a Commercial Fisherman for 10 years. As some of you may know, Commercial Fishing is not only one of the most dangerous jobs, it is also a dying profession for many reasons. After talking with some people who know the “business” and seeing the true potential of our bagels, J decided to say goodbye to his old career and put on an apron. People ask about his history of baking. Well, J got his first cookbook at age 4 and makes some of the meanest BBQ around. But baking? J has found his creative outlet and has found what he calls his “dream job.”

Marisa (M) is a very different story. Although she was the one originally interested in sourdough, it was solely as a hobby, as she has a full-time career as a private practice Marriage and Family Therapist and Relationship Coach. Given that M has started numerous businesses, and knows a great opportunity when she sees one, she decided to take on the role as the “business manager.” What does this mean? M is in charge of creating the systems behind the product and the marketing. She also makes the schmears!
